The Clintons Band Release Free MP3 of Hillary Clinton Love Song The Clintons love song to Hillary Clinton garnered international news headlines when the band released the video of the song on YouTube. Now the full band version of Hey Hill (If You Ever Dump Bill) is available as a free download on the band's website as well as the Podcast Music Network. Bozeman, MT (PRWEB) April 18, 2008 --Montana-based rock/country group, The Clintons, have released a free MP3 of "Hey Hill (If You Ever Dump Bill), their love song to Democratic Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton. The song's video on YouTube has gained international attention on CNN as well as a live, international interview on Fox News. In addition to posting the free song on their official website clintonsband.com (http://www.clintonsband.com), they've also made it available to podcasters on the Podsafe Music Network (http://www.podsafemusicnetwork.com).
The tongue-in-cheek acoustic ballad and equally satirical music video the four-piece posted on YouTube last February was initially intended to give their fan base a good laugh. "We love Hillary Clinton. Not the political Hillary Clinton necessarily, but the woman Hillary Clinton. And a woman she is. Hot, sensual, sexy, kinky," reads an explanation of the love song on the band's Web site. But a recent spurt of national coverage for the video on CNN, the Associated Press, and an internationally telecasted interview on Fox News, has sparked a demand for the song amongst their fans and other curious listeners around the world. The demand was enough to prompt the group to re-record the song as a full band and release it online.
Lead singer/songwriter John McLellan finds it humorous that the love song and its video, which were both written and recorded in less than a day, have given The Clintons more exposure than they've ever received. "We usually either write tear-jerking love ballads or fun, up-beat party songs," he says. "'Hey Hill' was never intended to be a Clintons song. It still cracks me up, though."
The Fox News broadcast showed a segment of the video with the lyrics, "I'm not like congress baby I'm debt free, you'll never find anything shrinking on me," which seem to be the root of some controversy with YouTube viewers. Some have even gone as far as branding The Clintons as sexist.
Even though the ballad isn't a true testament to their rootsy, country-meets-rock-and-funk sound, they surely don't mind the extra attention. "If Hey Hill helps millions of people get exposed to our real music, I guess it's all worth it," mentions drummer/manager, Levi Kujala.
