In this solid action flick, field agent Roger Ferris (Leonardo DiCaprio) hops from Iraq to Dubai to Jordan tracking a

terrorist ringleader, while taking orders from Washington, D.C.-based CIA superior Ed Hoffman(Russell Crowe).

Already tired of doing dirty work and watching his colleagues get killed, the young, hotheaded Ferris then discovers

Hoffman is not telling him the whole truth in life-or-death situations -- and realizes he doesn't know whom to trust. While

less dynamic than the Bourne series, the movie (directed by Ridley Scott, who shot 2000's Gladiator with Crowe)

succeeds due to the agile, sharply focused DiCaprio, who makes his character believable even while charming a

woman as he gets a rabies injection (in his navel!). Plus, Crowe's chubby suburban bureaucrat adds occasional levity

as he juggles his work as a top-level CIA spook with his duties as a daddy, dropping his cute kids off at school while

using his cell to coach Ferris through one incendiary situation after another. Overall, it's an entertaining and engrossing

spy film.
