Riverside Health System of Virginia Chooses Ignis Systems for All Lab and Radiology Integration

Riverside Health System has selected Ignis System’s EMR-Link lab integration solution to integrate all lab and radiology orders for over 200 physicians in Virginia.

Riverside Health System has selected Ignis System’s EMR-Link lab integration solution to integrate all lab and radiology orders for over 200 physicians in Virginia.

Located in Newport News Virginia, Riverside selected EMR-Link for its ability to integrate lab orders and results for multiple reference and specialty labs into the electronic medical record (EMR) system for a cohesive ordering and reporting environment. Riverside Health System has been one of the nation’s Top 100 Most Wired Hospitals/Health Systems, according to Hospitals & Health Networks magazine, for seven consecutive years.

According to Dr. Charles Frazier, Riverside’s Vice President of Medical Informatics: "Ignis understands a physician's EMR workflow and how to integrate lab and radiology orders/results into that workflow. Their product works the way our doctors do. We have over 200 physicians using it every day, creating clean and complete orders which eliminate the callbacks from the lab that used to plague us--and the lab.”

Says Jim Foss, Director of IS Physician Services: "A key function is the splitting and routing of requisitions to the correct lab based on insurance/testing rules that we set up. That operates behind the scenes, making it simple and nondisruptive to the ordering physicians. We're routing to three labs today, and adding a fourth lab later this year. We're slated to add radiology orders and results integration later this year, which will fit into the same workflow. And with Ignis delivering the lab/imaging integration, it frees up the internal interface team to work on other interface priorities.”
