ENIKOS LAUNCHES THE POWER OF 21

Enikos, a new multimedia solutions company, has been launched as the first company worldwide to build solutions based on the MPEG-21 Multimedia Framework. MPEG-21 is the latest of the MPEG standards, and introduces Digital Items as a ‘virtual container’ for multimedia content delivery. The full XML based framework supports Rights, Adaptation and DRM mechanisms and is expected to have an immediate impact on music and video distribution, as well as broadcasting industries.

Enikos was founded by CEO, Ian Maxwell, and CTO, Ian Burnett, and is the result of several years of groundbreaking research and development in the areas of multimedia delivery at the University of Wollongong, Australia. Enikos is constructing a framework that takes the strengths of MPEG-21 and allows complete commercial, multimedia delivery solutions. Enikos’s initial product offering, DICreator™ V1.0 (available now), allows the generation of Digital Items in a flexible easy-to-use package.
