ROMAN NIGHTS - Tennessee Williams and Anna Magnani Project Gearing Up For The Silver Screen. Playwright Franco D'Alessandro's drama of the complicated friendship between Tennessee Williams and Anna Magnani to be a feature film. Theatrical producer Suzanne Corso, docu producer Rose Ganguzza, and playwright Franco D'Alessandro, author of the 2002 Off-Broadway hit ROMAN NIGHTS, on which the film is based, announce a partnership with Out of Band, Karin Kearns and Kai Ephron of "Dietrich" fame, to bring the story of the inspiring and often tumultuous friendship between the great playwright Tennessee Williams and Oscar® winning Italian actress Anna Magnani, to the silver screen. Currently in pre-production with a completed screenplay, adapted from the stageplay, the producers are currently in talks with several major and minor Hollywood studios and distributors. Several major stars have expressed interest in various roles.
"Roman Nights" chronicles the intense, creative and tumultuous friendship that Tennessee Williams and Anna Magnani shared for 25 years. The backdrop of this film is the magical city of Rome in the 1950's and 1960's during the height of the glamorous la Dolce Vita era when it was bustling with great artists and bold-faced names. Williams and Magnani battle with various demons -real and imagined- including greedy agents and producers, betrayal by friends and lovers and the ravages of age and addiction, as they make their way through the labyrinth of fame from Hollywood to New York to Rome. "Roman Nights" is a sweeping story which explores the perils and passions of artistic genius experienced by writer and actor.
