Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) April 30, 2008 -- The Chimeras, a four person rock band from Philadelphia, plans to release their new album, Party of God, at their album release party at Crescent Boat Club on Saturday, May 10th, 2008.

Party of God is The Chimera's third album in three years, following Soil Beside the River and A Month of Ash. Since 2005, the band has played around Philadelphia in such venues as Johnny Brenda's, The North Star, The Khyber and The M Room. They have also performed at shows in New York City, Chicago, Cincinnati, and Baltimore.

The band members, Dan Ferry, Adam Cooper, Il Shim Pearlman and Matthew Turnbull, live and play music together in a house in West Philadelphia. They converted the basement into a soundproofed recording studio for recording and rehearsing. The Party of God album will be the first release on their new record label, SlingShotStone Records. Ferry, Cooper, Pearlman and Turnbull collaborated together on Party of God. All four sing and play guitar.

"Party of God is a 12 song album of overlapping scenes, characters, news, dialogue and geographies. The song cycle begins with the parading optimism of the first song, And We'll Be Greeted as Liberators, and closes with the war stomp Fallujah Blues/Lux," says Ferry when asked to describe the new album.

Cooper adds, "Each song is meant to be an individual, to reflect a point of view or experiences shared between two people rather than a politic."

Turnbull explains further, "The album strives to impartially echo the world's religious and political fragmentation and give a voice to the everyday person caught in crossfire."

Doors to The Chimeras Party of God album launch party open at 9 p.m. on Saturday, May 10th, 2008. The launch party lasts until midnight. Other popular Philadelphia bands will be performing along with The Chimeras.

Tickets for the show are available in advance on the band's website www.TheChimeras.com. Drinks will be provided for the party guests. There will be a limited number of tickets available at the door ($15) on the night of the party. Venue space is limited, so the band encourages their fans to buy tickets beforehand ($12) to guarantee admittance to the launch party. Crescent Boat Club is located at #5 Boat House Row along Kelly Drive.
