New Book Reveals the Inside Story of The Eagles

HEAVEN AND HELL is the first insider's look at the band by former lead guitarist Don Felder, in which Felder reveals behind-the-scenes stories of the group, its characters, their creative processes, and their legendary partying.

Hoboken, NJ (PRWEB) April 30, 2008 -- The Eagles are one of the most successful, and publicity-shy, bands in America. Now, a new book comes along that every Eagles fan has been waiting for. HEAVEN AND HELL is the first insider's look at the band by former lead guitarist Don Felder, in which Felder reveals behind-the-scenes stories of the group, its characters, their creative processes, and their legendary partying.

HEAVEN AND HELL: My Life in the Eagles (1974-2001), (Wiley, $25.95; Cloth; ISBN: 978-0-470-28906-8; May 2008) offers glimpses of Felder's poor childhood in Gainesville -- which coincidentally allowed him to cross paths with several future rock giants: Duane Allman, Stephen Stills, and Tom Petty -- and goes on to chronicle his years as a member of The Eagles. Felder joined the band in 1974 during the recording of The Eagles' third album and remained with the band through its dissolution after The Long Run, their "resumption" for the Hell Freezes Over tour in 1994-96, and finally his firing in 2001.

In HEAVEN AND HELL, Felder shares every part of the band's wild ride, from the pressure-packed recording studios to the trashed hotel rooms. Yet, beyond the mayhem and clashing egos, Felder captures the joy of writing powerful new songs with his band mates, the magic of performing in huge arenas packed with fans and the hard work, dedication, and creativity that each band member brought to the music. Even-handed and perceptive, HEAVEN AND HELL is a thrilling and thoughtful, raucous and bittersweet tale about the love of music and the price of fame.
