DNV Deeming Application Progresses to Next Stage; Accreditation Proposal Open for Public Comment

DNV Healthcare makes further progress in its application to create a new quality-based hospital accreditation service.

Houston (PRWEB) May 1, 2008 -- The U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has completed its corporate office audit of DNV Healthcare and its technical review of DNV's survey documents as part of its application for hospital deeming authority.

The DNV proposal is now open for public comment as it progresses to the next stage: a CMS on-site observation of a DNV accreditation survey.

Information about the DNV hospital deeming application, and instructions on how healthcare professionals and consumers can provide comments to CMS, is available at www.newaccreditation.com.

"We encourage anyone interested in the quality and cost of healthcare services to learn about this issue and contribute comments to CMS," says Yehuda Dror. "The accreditation process - because it is so fundamental to the business of running a hospital - is the perfect opportunity to introduce quality innovation into the system."

DNV's proposal represents a new approach to hospital accreditation that integrates international quality standards with the Medicare Conditions of Participation.

The deadline for public comments is 5:00 p.m. ET, May 27.
