San Diego Theta Chi Alumni Respond

San Diego State Theta Chi Alumni applaud San Diego State University, the San Diego District Attorney's Office and the Drug Enforcement Agency

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) May 9, 2008 -- In 1947 the Gamma Theta Chapter of Theta Chi Fraternity, Inc. was the first National Men's Fraternity to be chartered on the San Diego State Campus. Since then we have initiated over 1100 young men into our brotherhood. Many of these men have matured into business, military, and civic leaders within San Diego and the nation. Our fraternity has a long and distinguished heritage both nationally and locally as a promoter of higher education and nurturer of young men. We strive for each of our undergraduate members to grow to become valuable members of civilized society. There is no place within our ranks for individuals associated with drug trafficking, drug use, or other illegal activities. We are very much a part of the history and culture of SDSU and hope to be a part of the University in the future. We are fully supportive of the undercover investigation undertaken to stop drug activity at our Alma Mater and within our walls.

Of our 1100 members, sixty-five are undergraduates and six were arrested in connection with Operation Sudden Fall. The local alumni corporation will work with our national organization and University officials to determine the future of our chapter at San Diego State. The alumni corporation has a zero tolerance policy relating to drugs. We will undertake a formal review of our undergraduate membership and stand ready to take decisive action, including expulsion, if necessary. We will also endeavor to support and protect the majority of our undergraduate members who are not accused in the case.
