BufferShield - Prevent the Exploitation of Buffer Overflows on Windows 2000/XP/2003 Systems

Sys-Manage, a Germany based vendor of security and systems management software, is pleased to announce the release of BufferShield - a software product detecting and preventing the exploitation of buffer overflows, responsible for the majority of security related problems faced today.

Frankfurt, Germany (PRWEB) December 18, 2003 -- Sys-Manage, a Germany based vendor of security and systems management software, is pleased to announce the release of BufferShield - a software product detecting and preventing the exploitation of buffer overflows, responsible for the majority of security related problems faced today.

Buffer overflows are commonly exploited by hackers or viruses with the aim of introducing malicious code into attacked computer systems. For example, the LovSan virus used such a buffer overflow in order to spread itself.

BufferShield is a new security tool, capable of detecting and stopping such intrusion attempts. Upon detection it creates an entry within the event log and optionally terminates the application or service in question, preventing the execution of potentially offending code.

The product is available as a commercial and a freeware version. The freeware version is limited to offer protection only for Microsoft Internet Explorer, Opera Web Browser, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Outlook Express, while the commercial version protects all applications and services running.

A single computer license of BufferShield costs $29.00 and can be ordered on-line from the company's secure website. Multiple computer and enterprise licenses are also available.
