On The Block Records Signs Deal!!

On The Block and PGE work out distribution deal.

On The Block Records a R&B/Hip Hop label based in Tacoma, Washington signs a distribution deal with PGE. PGE a Florida based company, owned and operated by Brian O'Connor, known for distribution of such titles as Face Off 2 Compilation and Cali Thugs in the mid 90's. PGE will release On The Block Records first full-length album "State Of Emergency" scheduled for Feb.3 2004. With a small staff of five people On The Block handles all producing , recording, and mastering of projects in their two state of the art studios. They are currently working with five artists on solo projects as well as just completing the "State Of Emergency" compilation . The companies first release came this past summer with the hit single "Dat Bomb" by Naja Shiri. This song will be featured on the "State of Emergency" compilation. Achieving commercial airplay on over 60 stations nation wide, and with “Dat Bomb” charting in the DJ record pools in the top 25 has PGE and On The Block optimistic about the success of the compilation.

Unlike other compilations this album does not feature any heavy hitters. This album will feature On The Block Records roster of artists as well as a few cameos by local Northwest artists. With production from Funk Daddy, Jay 1, and the combination of Travis and JC Williams this album takes on a sound unlike any album from the Pacific Northwest. Travis being from Detroit and JC from Tacoma the two together create a blend of music that can't be categorized by any coast. We asked JC and Travis what do they consider their sound as and their reply was "It's just good music".
