Bar|Scan® 2.5 Announced With New Features

Bar|Scan, Inc. has announced a new upgrade to its Bar|Scan® application. Three powerful features have been added to expand the capability of its core application.

Westlake Village, California (PRWEB) May 30, 2008 -- Three powerful features have been added to Bar|Scan to expand the capability of its core application.

Feature One - As a companion product, the Bar|Scan Smart Client Application uses Microsoft's ClickOnce application deployment technology. By clicking a link in a web page, the application can self install throughout the user environment for quick access to Bar|Scan assets. Once installed, users can browse, sort, add, edit or print assets. Filters can be assigned by user password so that only assets in their area of responsibility are accessible.

Based on Microsoft .NET 3.0 technology, and customized through Bar|Scan's User Defined Fields Software Module, the Smart Client is a true thin client that can be easily modified by the Bar|Scan Administrator without the need for any programming. Any customization is automatically deployed by the Click once technology to all end user's desktops.

Feature Two - Intelligent asset grouping can now be achieved by creating parent child relationships at the make and model level. Asset groups can also be formed by creating Asset Bill of Materials. These relationships can remain 'sticky'. For example, relocating parent assets will update the child assets. These relationship are also useful in reservations for Work Order processing.

Feature Three - Email Bar|Scan inventory data directly from the Windows Mobile based handheld mobile computer to the Bar|Scan host database using Outlook 2007. When a USB or direct Wi-Fi connection is not readily available, the user can connect via a common carrier. Inventory data can be sent bi-directionally for quick onsite validation.
