FREE Email Compliance Roadmap Released

iMarketingStrategy.com has released a simple flowchart to help small businesses navigate their way into compliance with the new 2004 CAN-SPAM law.

Miramar, FL (PRWEB) January 9 2004--The new CAN-SPAM law for email is easy to follow, if you have a roadmap and iMarketingStrategy.com has created one. Brent Dreyer, Managing Director says, "the first question is if its a Transactional or Relationship Email because the new law does not pertain to this type of communication." These are emails that facilitate, complete, or confirm a commercial transaction that the recipient has previously agreed to enter into with the sender. They also might provide warranty information, product recall information, or safety or security information with respect to a commercial product or service used or purchased by the recipient. Section 3(17) of the CAN-SPAM law gives the complete definition of transactional or relationship emails.

The next question, says Dreyer, is "Do you have the recipient's Affirmative Consent to send them an email?" If not, then there are a few things that you will need to include, such as notice that it is an advertisement or solicitation, and opt-out process and your postal address.

Beyond this, your cannot have false headers or deceptive subject lines. You will also need to have a functioning return address, or provide another "obvious" way for the recipient to opt out, and you will have 10 days to honor that request.

A flowchart of this process may be found at http://www.imarketingstrategy.com/emailroadmap.htm.
