AfroAnime Debuts B-Buggz Comic Strip B-Fly and Her B-Girls Take On Politics, the Media and Hip-Hop Culture. Charleston, SC (PRWEB) January 14, 2004 AfroAnime LLC has announced the launch of their comic strip based on their popular B-Buggz characters. The strip, entitled B-Buggz, made itÂs debut in the December 8, 2003 issue of NuNews, a Columbia South Carolina based newspaper covering the counties of Charleston, Columbia, and Orangeburg. B-Buggz centers around B-Fly, a b-girl, graffiti writer and die-hard hip-hop fan from back in the day who is currently featured on much of AfroAnimeÂs apparel, accessory and gift lines (http://www.afro-anime.com). With her fondness for all things old school, B-Fly and her b-girls B-Fresh, B-Chill, B-Love and B-Wild, make witty, satirical and often biting observations about such diverse issues as relationships, politics, the media, pop culture and the current state of hip-hop. ÂOne of AfroAnimeÂs goals is to deliver positive messages in an entertaining way so the creation of the comic strip was the next logical progression, says Ursula Bugg, AfroAnimeÂs Chief Creative Director and creator of the B-Buggz characters and comic strip. ÂWe hope that through B-Buggz we will give voice to a generation of hip-hop fans who grew up during hip-hopÂs early years. By exploring the breadth and diversity of hip-hop culture and its fans we also hope to dispel the two-dimensional gangsta/thug caricature that has become synonymous with hip-hop culture in recent years, says Ursula.
