GameMobile issues 2003 Christmass mobile java games top-seller list

Www.GameMobile.co.uk, one of the leading UK distributors of Mobile Phone Games for java enabled phones, saw an incredible increase in sales of their mobile games over the 2003 festive period.

(PRWEB) January 17 2004--It seems that everybody got a colour phone at Christmas and one of the first things they wanted to do was play games. The GameMobile site saw an increase of over 178% in traffic and mobile game sales almost doubled. The most popular models were the SonyEricsson T610 and Nokias new N-Gage, with the Nokia 3650 & 3510i closely following. The two top models accounted for over a third of the traffic though.

Amazingly, the top overall games were more strategic in nature rather than the more traditional arcade games. Probably because theyre easier from a button control point of view. Over the 2 week Christmas period the top 5 games were:

1: Townsmen - build & run a city simulator game.

2: Air Traffic Control - simulator game.

3: Kaprov 3D Chess - top 3D chess game.

4: Italian Job - racing arcade game based on the new film.

5: Rack 'em up - classic pool-hall game.

Game sales are going through the roof as hunger builds for the demanding consumer today who wants their mobile phone to become a full entertainment platform. Worldwide mobile phone sales were up again in the third quarter of 2003, with 132.8 million units sold, a 22 percent increase from last year." We see the future of mobile java games and applications as key to the marketplace. Www.gamemobile.co.uk, for example, is also developing many other applications for users not only in the gaming arena. With our new applications it will soon be possible to browse the web, pick up email and do instant chat, gambling and alike on lower level java handsets - something which has only so far been the reserve of high-end mobile phones.

Were very excited about 2004 with hundreds of new games titles on the horizon and the integration of amazing java applications.
