SCI Companies Offers Vision Care Benefits for PEO Clients Through Spectera
SCI, a national leading Professional Employer Organization (PEO), announced today a joint initiative with Spectera, a UnitedHealth group (NYSE: UNH) company and one of the nation’s largest managed vision care programs, to offer a nationwide vision care plan that covers eye examinations, as well as the cost of eyeglasses and contact lenses.
Tampa, FL (PRWEB) September 5, 2006 -- SCI, a national leading Professional Employer Organization (PEO), announced today a joint initiative with Spectera, a UnitedHealth group (NYSE: UNH) company and one of the nation’s largest managed vision care programs, to offer a nationwide vision care plan that covers eye examinations, as well as the cost of eyeglasses and contact lenses.
This new plan is a voluntary employee paid plan for members and their eligible family members. The vision plan, administered by Spectera, allows members to pay for vision benefits on a pre-tax basis. Members do not need to be enrolled in any of SCI's health plans to participate in the vision plan.
Vision care is extremely popular; SHRM reports that 73% of organizations offer vision insurance. “According to the Vision Council of America, 70% of employees need vision correction,” said Henry Hardin, president & CEO, SCI. “The Spectera vision discount program allows our clients to offer an additional benefit that their employees will value.”

The Spectera vision program allows employees to choose from a nationwide network of private practice providers and retail optical providers such as Wal-Mart, Costco and Vision Works. Spectera participants and eligible family members will receive the maximum benefits on vision care from network providers. Participants may also visit non-network providers, although fees in excess of the allowances by the vision plan for covered services will be the participant’s responsibility.
