PNC Financial Services Group, Inc.(NYSE: PNC) announced today the addition of Craig F. Thomas as vice president and senior economist, joining the PNC Economics team led by Stuart G. Hoffman, Ph.D., chief economist.
Thomas will be responsible for contributing regional economic analysis and forecasting for the 13 states and major metropolitan areas, including the District of Columbia, that comprise PNC's core economic footprint. In addition, Thomas will focus on economic issues related to residential and commercial real estate nationwide. Thomas will also assist with the analysis and forecasting of U.S. economic and financial market conditions and prospects.
"Demand for economic analysis and insight has significantly increased in the past year due to the challenging U.S. and global economies, but also correlates with PNC's expansion - nearly double the staff and geography - as a result of the recent acquisition of National City Bank," said Hoffman. "Craig's knowledge and experience enhances my team's ability to address the growing demand for data and analysis from our corporate and retails customers as well as PNC executives who rely on this information for business planning and strategy."
Thomas previously served as director of research for Citi Property Investors, a part of Citigroup, Inc., where he lead market research in North America, Europe and Asia, and participated in the Investment and Valuation Committees. In this role, Thomas initiated a proprietary research platform blending real estate fundamentals, economic indicators and capital market concepts. His professional experience also includes director of research & research systems for CB Richard Ellis/Torto Wheaton Research and director of regional models for Moody's Economy.com.
Thomas earned a bachelor of science degree in Business Administration, a bachelor of arts degree in Economics and a master of science degree in Agriculture and Resource Economics at the University of Maine.
