Sarasota, Fla. (PRWEB) June 29, 2010

While most Suncoast residents know 1-800-ASK-GARY as the free accident and injury helpline, its founder Dr. Gary Kompothecras is also an extremely active philanthropist throughout the area with many not-for-profits, in addition to his personal fight for autism awareness.

Since Florida Governor Charlie Crist appointed him to the state Autism Task Force in 2008, Dr. Gary has been working tirelessly to help children like his own son and daughter, ages 11 and 12, who began showing symptoms of autism at a very young age. After meeting Dr. Mark Geier, the president of the Institute of Chronic Illnesses on the Autism Task Force, Dr. Gary began contributing funds to the organization towards research, treatment and prevention of autism.

Dr. Geier, a board-certified M.D./Ph.D. geneticist, says, “Dr. Gary is working very hard to help kids. We have made significant progress in the fight for awareness both here in Florida and nationally. We want the truth out. We want to stop this autism epidemic. Dr. Gary has been a great leader in this cause.”
