Maytag Corporation Discriminates Against Minority Women

For Immediate Release Nov.8,1999. There has been a lawsuit filed against Maytag Corporation in the U.S.District Court Western District of Missouri Central Division in Jefferson City Missouri.
The suit was filed on behalf of an African American woman that worked for the Maytag Component Parts in Jefferson City. The lawsuit is an action for unlawful racial discrimination brought under and persuant to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, Chapter 210 of the Missouri Revised Statutes (RSMo) and 42 U.S.C. 1981.
The plaintiff is suing because of unlawful employment practices.These are based on racial motives which impaired Plaintiffs right to make and enforce contracts by interfering with the Plaintiffs right to bid, train, and receive a promotion. The unlawful interference with her right to contract for employment on an equal basis as white citizens due to her race and color.The lawsuit claims Maytag made no effort to enforce its anti-discrimination policy,thereby rendering said policy ineffective. Maytag Corporation actions
and inactions prevented Plaintiff from receiving employment rights equal to those of her white co-workers. The lawsuit also states that Maytag acts were intentional, willful, malicious ,and in conscious disregard of the Plaintiffs civil rights.
