Bricks to Clicks Advice for Small Business: Don't Believe The Hype
Camelot Publications has just released two business guides for the small business community.
The first booklet in the "Bricks to Clicks" series is titled simply "Getting Your Business Online". Co-Author Bob Cortez describes the booklet as "A road map to guide brick and mortar businesses to travel from main street to cyber street."
The booklet covers in non-technical terms the items for small business to consider when selecting an ISP, Web host and web design team. It also provides a brief overview of the benefits to small businesses for being online and the risks to them if they don't.
The first four tips from the guide set the tone for the twenty page guide:
Don't believe the hype. Your site probably won't be an overnight success. Be realistic.
The Internet is a tool. How you use that tool, and what you build with it is up to you.
This new environment is still evolving. Learn by doing, and do more of what works for you.
Be prepared and willing to test new ideas and new ways to conduct your business.
The goal of the guide is to arm small businesses with the information and ideas to make smart choices from hardware to human-ware.
The second guide, "The Business of Doing Business Online" takes over where the first leaves off with over a hundred ideas for how to get the most from being online.
Small business coach and co-author Billi Perry says this booklet "gives small businesses an overview of the many ways that they can profit from using the internet, even if they don't sell anything online".
Topics included in the 20 page guide include:
Business administration and operation
Distribution and maintenance
Advertising and promotion
Adjusting to net culture
Interactive tools and resources
Multiple and alternative profit streams
Single copies of each booklet are available for $6.50 each or $11.00 for both (US$). Large quantity price discounts and custom imprinting are available for interested parties.
Staff and freelance writers are invited to request review copies of the booklets by contacting Camelot Publications.
