International Scavenger Hunt Announces Destination
--Explorer Quest, The International Scavenger Hunt, has announced its race venue for the year 2000. Mexico will be the target country for this coming August 2-15. Adventurers, backpackers, and even suitcase-toters are already preparing for the event whose course covers more than 1500 km (930 mi.) and starts in Guadalajara, Mexico. The 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place winners will share US$15,000 in prize money. The competition will draw thousands of prospective participants from North America, Europe, East Asia, Australia, and New Zealand, but the maximum number allowed to compete is just 650. Registration is on a "first come, first served" basis, and all nationalities are invited to take part.
"Explorer Quest 2000 is a unique event for travelers. Its for anyone with a spirit for adventure; especially those who envied Indiana Jones and James Bond in their youth but never thought there was a way to fulfill their adolescent (or adult) dreams," said Michael Williams, founder of Explorer Quest. Williams, who has been globe-trotting since age 11 also said, "This race is actually a realization of my own wish to be a world explorer on some exotic mission. Unfortunately, I still cant 'go on a mission myself, but Ive made it a reality for anyone else that has these same desires."
Explorer Quest is a U.S. based organization whose goal is to make dreams come true for men and women around the world that seek high adventure and travel abroad but find that traditional tours and vacation destinations cannot fulfill their need for real excitement.
