Today, we have eliminated the need for manual entry which has led to improved accuracy and greater efficiency in our workflow processes.

1 EDI Source, Inc., a leading provider of electronic data interchange (EDI) software and outsourcing solutions, helps Lakeview Center Inc. efficiently manage EDI health care documents. As of January 2012, all health care organizations are required to use EDI solutions that comply with Version 5010 EDI standards mandated by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) recently issued a new compliance date for health care organizations to comply with the new Version 5010 coding system.
In 2009, the HHS transitioned HIPAA EDI standards to ASC X12 Version 5010. Version 5010 was designed to support the International Classification of Diseases, 10th Edition diagnosis and procedure codes (ICD-10). ICD-10 will increase the number of codes from 14,000 to nearly 70,000. This coding system was scheduled to take effect in October 2013. However, in August 2012, the HHS announced a new compliance date of Oct. 1, 2014.
Lakeview Center was faced with the challenge of implementing an EDI solution that met Version 5010 standards. The organization also needed a robust application that could effectively and efficiently process, validate and map claims, insurance eligibility inquiries, premium payments and referrals. Today, Lakeview Center relies on 1 EDI Source.
“We chose 1 EDI Source because its EDI solution offers an interface that is simple to use and manipulate,” said Mike Bailey, business analyst, Lakeview Center. “By implementing EDI/HQ, we have automated tasks and improved the organization’s overall productivity. Today, we have eliminated the need for manual entry which has led to improved accuracy and greater efficiency in our workflow processes.”
1 EDI Source offers EDI software to manage transactions and requirements unique to the health care industry.
“We have been working with companies in the health care industry for many years,” said Kelly Coode, president of 1 EDI Source. “Our software is robust and flexible enough to keep pace with ever-changing HIPAA EDI requirements and help clients comply with transaction standards.”
