INTELLINET SIGNS MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR AGREEMENT WITH JETCELL TO OEM SS7oIP GATEWAY
New Gateway Expected To Accelerate Wireless Office Solutions By Easing Deployment Constraints, Lowering Initial Costs
Melbourne, FL - March 02, 2000 - IntelliNet Technologies, Inc.--a leading provider of SS7/IP internetworking solutions-today announced that it had signed a definitive agreement with JetCell, Inc. (Menlo Park, CA)--a designer and manufacturer of unique GSM-based wireless communications systems--to OEM the SS7oIP Gateway product for use in conjunction with JetCell's Wireless Enterprise Office System. The introduction of this significant application for transmitting both TCAP and ISUP messages over an IP Network promises to revolutionize the Wireless Office Environment
The SS7oIP Gateway from IntelliNet can take application level messages over SS7 and forward them to nodes on an IP network. In many ways it operates like a multi-transport STP with capabilities like message discrimination, Global Title Translation (GTT) and SPC based routing. This function will be vital in future networks as operators migrate from traditional SS7 based networks to IP based schemes.
The SS7oIP Gateway was developed using IntelliNet's internationally deployed IntelliSS7TM Application Development Environment (ADE) and can simultaneously communicate over multiple IP based protocols like SR-3389 from BellCore and Transport Adaptation Layer Interface (TALI) from Tekelec. Support for the SCTP interface from Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) is expected shortly. The IntelliSS7 ADE is in use by a number of major customers like AT&T, Corsair Communications, Hughes Network Systems, Compaq and KDD Network Systems (Japan).
IntelliNet's SS7oIP Gateway is currently offered on a Windows NT platform. A highly available Sun/Netra based version is scheduled for general availability later this year. Its excellent price-performance and scalability makes it ideally suited for deployment with in-building Wireless Office solutions providing low-cost communications with the macro-cellular network.
Jo Anne Miller, VP of Engineering at JetCell said, "Our development staff were extremely impressed with the capabilities of the IntelliSS7 Application Development Environment. This, and the fact that their SS7oIP Gateway is fully integrated with their IntelliSS7 development package, was a major contributing factor in significantly reducing our time to market."
Jan Long, VP of Sales and Marketing at JetCell added, "We looked at a number of options. IntelliNet's SS7oIP Gateway was the most flexible in terms of customization and configuration. Its support for a number of the SS7oIP standards and use of off-the-shelf components by several vendors were key factors in our decision. IntelliNet's vast experience working with large equipment manufacturers such as Hughes, Cisco and AT&T was definitely a plus in helping to understand all the development requirements. We are very pleased to be the first to benefit from IntelliNet's unique SS7oIP platform."
Anjan Ghosal, IntelliNet's President, said, "Being approved for international deployment by JetCell is a major step for us. It validates the capability of our product to operate in the carrier environment. We expect to be able to repeat our performance with a number of other major customers."
Brian K. St.Ours, Director of Marketing at IntelliNet said, "We utilized our IntelliSS7 Application Development Environment product and our multiple years of expertise in SS7/IP Convergence and developed a flexible solution that addresses the growing market demand for SS7oIP Gateway products. Our Gateway application gives end-users access to the SS7 network directly from their desktop!" Brian continued, "And with true simultaneous multi-protocol support, our customers are no longer forced to take sides in the looming SS7oIP standards debate. They can be on all Sides!"
IntelliNet's SS7oIP Gateway has successfully completed field trials with JetCell's Wireless Enterprise Office products in North America and Europe.
