Alternative Rock's Gravity Tree Posts New MP3
This week alternative rock group Gravity Tree released a new free MP3 on multiple sites across the World Wide Web. The song, Minnies Tree", from their latest CD, Life or Dessert?", is the second cut to be made available to the public without charge. Following a common trend in music, Gravity Tree has decided not to charge for any MP3s they make available.
Drummer Alan Nu commented, "I think the days of charging for singles are going away. Theres a principle of 'free stuff up there on the Web you have to acknowledge, so theres a balance to strike and still be able to sell your CD. Also, I dont find myself in stores that often anymore; Im usually purchasing online. So we made the decision early on that most of our business would happen on the web."
While Gravity Tree has selected a handful of walk-in stores to carry Life or Dessert?", most of their distribution is online. The first song from the new CD, EveryThing", was released last month, shortly after the CDs release on February 8th In many of the larger CD online stores, including CDNow, Buy.com and Amazon. Their MP3 songs can be found at MP3.com, listen.com, and many other online MP3 distribution sites, as well as their home page, www.gravitytree.com. The band is committed to exploring better ways
of distributing their music and believes the web is key.
Gravity Tree is an alternative, progressive rock band headquartered in Newark, California. Its music is a blend of '70s rock influences with modern alternative sensibilities. Live dates for Life or Dessert?" will be announced shortly. For more information email: beth@gravitytree.com.
