Information Builders and DMR Consulting Forge Alliance To Provide Key Enterprise Integration Solutions for M&A Sector

Information Builders and DMR Consulting Forge Alliance To Provide Key Enterprise Integration Solutions for M&A Sector

New York, NY - March 21, 2000 -Information Builders, the global leader in the combined Web reporting and enterprise integration solutions known as i-business Ô, today announced a strategic relationship with Montreal-based DMR Consulting that will create technology solutions that integrate the disparate information systems that often result during corporate mergers and acquisitions.

The relationship offers clients a superior combination of expertise in technology consulting, and leading-edge software solutions that are exceptionally well suited for integrating diverse information systems. The terms of the agreement give DMR consultants increased access to key Information Builders technology and consulting services, as DMR leads its clients through the complexities of enterprise integration.

Each company will contribute its expertise and assets to their joint customers, with DMR defining the optimum architecture and technology for merged or acquired companies, and Information Builders supplying the required technology infrastructure. The companies expect to co-operate in creating solutions not only in Canada, but globally, including the US, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.

"As companies increasingly rely on computer networks and data warehouses to create business value, poorly integrated information systems can destroy much of the intended benefit of a merger or acquisition," said John Bremner, DMR's Global Solutions Director for Mergers and Acquisitions.

  • one does enterprise integration better than Information Builders. Their products are not only the standard for bridging dissimilar data systems, which are inevitable in a merger, but they form the foundation on which a new company can leverage the synergy of its merged partners," Bremner said.

Information Builders' main enterprise integration products include its Enterprise Data Access (EDA) middleware, capable of accessing more than 85 enterprise data sources; the SmartMart Data Warehouse, a comprehensive single-vendor solution for gathering business intelligence from massive data stores; and Parlay, a Java-based application integration server that allows companies to rapidly create, integrate and manage complex applications running on a variety of platforms.

"We're delighted by this association with DMR, an organization that is dedicated to increasing business value and productivity," said Brian Joynt, general manager of the Canadian Region for Information Builders.

"Business relationships are getting more complex, as Internet-based business-to-business relationships take hold, and as companies face the increased competition of global markets and instant communications," said Joynt. "We want to put our technology in the hands of people who can use it well, and that's exactly what this strategic relationship with DMR will achieve, for both their customers and ours."
