Prior to designing its site, InvestMove.com surveyed 507 account holders in order to gain insight into the needs and demographics of the online investment community. The research, performed by an independent research firm, yielded some interesting insights into the profile and behavior of the online investor. The survey showed,
among other things, that only 28% of the investors make use of a full-service broker. The majority (54%) choose an internet discount broker, and the rest opt for a non-internet discount one. This finding suggests that investors are increasingly doing their own financial research online, rather than relying on a full-service
broker for recommendations.
Based on the survey findings as to online investor needs, the site features a tool that allows visitors to enter a company symbol into a search form and obtain a customized page covering more than 30 major information categories about that specific company. The information includes: stock quotes, stock performance, earnings estimates, stock valuation, company performance, analyst opinions, broker reports, company profile, price charts, intraday charts, technical charts, latest news, fundamentals, significant events, forum discussions, financial statements, financial ratios, annual reports, insider
trading, SEC filings, institutional ownership, earnings release dates, listed options, competition, stock splits and dividends, conference calls, momentum ratings, management discussion, short interest, and more.
According to Mr. Liraz, InvestMove.com is the most comprehensive web based research tool for a specific company, and it's free, "...no subscription fees, no questionnaires to fill out and no user names or
passwords".
Another feature of the site is an investor resources directory, dubbed by a company spokesman as a "directory of the best investor resources on the net".
Says Mr. Liraz: "Our staff editors surfed more than 6,000 Web sites to identify the best investment resources. They're grouped into 18 "Top Ten" categories.
