DisabledinAmerica.com and others being donated.
MONMOUTH, NEW JERSEY, U.S.A. - April 22, 2000 -- MassiveBusiness.com Inc. is donating the following URL's to a non-profit organization willing to develop and maintain these sites with the hope of improving the quality of life for disabled people throughout the world. The domains are DisabledinAmerica.com, DisabledOne.com, DisabledDepot.com, and invalids.com.
According to Judy Brewer, director of the World Wide Web Consortium's Web Access Advisory Committee, about 54 million Americans, or about 20 percent of the U.S. population, are disabled. Eight percent of the U.S. population has visual, learning, cognitive, auditory, or physical dexterity disabilities severe enough to affect their ability to access the Web.
As the world population continues to age, the disabled population will steadily increase. According to founder and CEO Michael O'Rourke, MassiveBusiness.com Inc., "Disabled people throughout history have suffered immensely because they were regarded as a menace to society. Having experienced mobility problems myself, I understand some of the many problems disabled people face today. The Information Age affords the disabled massive opportunities in the field of computing and we believe these developed Web Sites will help facilitate their optimism towards a more meaningful and productive life."
