The $70,000 Question

Cerulean Freight Forwarding Company (CFFC) has 73.3% of its funding complete. With an additive Letter of Intent to Purchase services, CFFC will reach 100%.

Cerulean Freight is prepared to offer a $70,000 finder's fee (or signing bonus) to a corporation that desires our To Space Thrifty Style approach.

The Letter of Intent (LOI) is for a complete orbital load of 1.8 metric tones or 10 passengers for 9 hours. The price of this service through CFFC is $1.5 million; the current market price (for freight only) is $39 million while no other service not even the space shuttle can offer 10 passengers to orbit.

The corporation, education institution, or private citizen may sell the LOI at any time in whole or in part to any capable source. What is a capable source? Any firm that can prove they can pay for the service (typically one that has sales of $5 M annually).

CFFC states, "No money is contributed up front. The end user pays after the service is delivered and only if it is delivered. The $70,000 signing bonus is guaranteed after an individual's or corporate finances are shown adequate to our financer that floats us a loan for the 26.7% of our required funds."

What are the services available?

Cerulean Freight defines its services in 6 broad categories: Hypersonic Freight, Satellite Transport, Space Tourism, Orbital Maintenance, MicroGrav construction, and Consulting.

What is Hypersonic Freight?

Systems Specialist Justin McFarland of CFFC defines Hypersonic Freight as, "The next generation freight and passenger transport. CFFC offers the service of intercontinental flights of fewer than 3 hours from any airport n the world to any airport in the world.
Calico (the name of a class of craft) can be designated as a suborbital craft, which carries 10 passengers and several tones of cargo to cities throughout the world. The limitation is the facilities available at the landing runway, airport clearance before takeoff, and the airport of origin. Arrangements would be made so that our craft would be at the right airport at the right time, from there, we offer a 3 hour flight to any airport capable of handling a DC-10."

Who would want this service?
McFarland states, "Organ transplantation services, the high-speed business traveler, the international diplomat, and goods with highest priority shipping status."

How fast is hypersonic?

McFarland explains, "We're talking about average speeds above Mach 8 (8 times faster than the speed of sound) and 8+ times faster than your typical flight. Example:
Flights from New York to Tokyo would reduce from approximately 16 hours to less than 3."

What is Satellite Transport?

"Satellite Transport is the mainstay of our program and our most capable means. We can launch at a rate of 42 satellites per week if necessary to a range of orbits. Costs for this service are far less than those offered by the United States' Space Shuttle. Our costs compare 23 tones at $600 million per launch for the shuttle, while we offer 23.4 tones at $19 million. Our launches will be superior in number since we can launch each craft up to twice per day, unlike the shuttle at once every few months. We can launch satellites of sizes from extremely small to the medium class of 1.8 metric tones. And perhaps most importantly the end user is using a crewed vehicle with onsite repair and no-go deployment possibility," replies McFarland.

'There is no reason a trip into space should be any harder or require more organization than a trip around the world. The energy required is only about $200.00 at the world's average price of electrical power and the technology used is known. True, the paying fraction of the craft is much smaller than for your average jumbo or business jet and the number of flights is less. That's why the cost is higher than for air traffic, by a factor of 100 at first. [However] this is no reason to charge 2,000 times as much [for space access]" J.V.H. Hill, PhD.

Cerulean Freight strongly believes that current organizations seeking launch services will turn to CFFC. "Once organizations see that they launch quickly and inexpensively, they will call upon Cerulean Freight for launch services." McFarland then points to the article Getting Something for Nothing -from http://www.thriftyspace.com/70grand.html

For instance: LOI designate corporation A has a manifest of 0.8 metric tones. 1.0 metric tones remains aboard the craft. Corporation A sells remaining cargo space to Corporation B for the same date they purchased the service for. Corporation B was on a waiting list for Launch service C for over a year and is mired in the wait. B terminates contract with C. Corporation B pays Corporation A $8 M for the remaining space it owns. Corporation A gets free launch and makes $6.57M. Corporation B launches with an assured cargo policy aboard a piloted vehicle and can begin launching its next craft.
