FloridaSMART is a comprehensive internet directory containing 1000's of links to Florida Schools, Attractions, Travel, Real Estate, Business and much more. The site is designed for easy navigation allowing internet users to quickly find concise information.
     Unlike a Search Engine, FloridaSMART is a human edited directory. Editors seek out quality links that are pertinent to a specific topic. The editors take the time to evaluate and select only the best quality and most complete sites. FloridaSMART's vast data warehouse of links can save internet users valuable time and frustration.
     Created by SurfSmart, Inc. the site is the brainchild of a database designer Patti Tarell. Patti was looking to relocate in Florida and became frustrated by the lack of information on the web pertaining to Florida schools. She found some information on public schools, but practically nothing on private schools. She and her husband Patrick, a computer engineer, realized there was a need for this kind of directory and began creating floridasmart.com in December 1998.
     After several months the site was up and running, at this time, in it's infancy, it included only Florida schools. With the addition of an "add a link" form the site began to grow very quickly. It soon included a Subject Directory with an amazing collection of resources on a wide variety of subject topics. The Subject Directory also links visitors to Florida specific categories including Florida history, government, plants, environment, animals, weather, art, music, sports, health, and more.
     Parents searching for information on Florida Education and Schools now have the most complete sources available at their fingertips. FloridaSMART includes a comprehensive list of Florida Schools on the Internet. The list contains both public schools, private schools along with colleges and universities, adult education, pre-schools, homeschool resources and summer camps. In addition, FloridaSMART has links to Florida educational organizations, testing information, school ratings and competitions.
