Mayor Giuliani Commemorates Information Builders 25th Anniversary and Acknowledges CEO Gerald Cohens Contributions to Silicon Alley

New York, NY -- April 28, 2000 -- At City Hall this morning, New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani met with Information Builders founder and CEO, Gerald Cohen to congratulate him on the companys 25th anniversary and to commend him on his contributions to the growth of New Yorks Silicon Alley software community.

   Mayor Giuliani made it a point to meet with Mr. Cohen during one of the most hectic weeks of his political career, because he admires Mr. Cohens achievement of running the largest software company in New York City as well as Mr. Cohens leadership role in promoting the growth of New York Citys rapidly growing Silicon Alley community.

Prior to the meeting, the Mayor issued a special proclamation acknowledging Information Builders 25th anniversary. Mr. Giuliani officially presented it to Mr. Cohen at this mornings meeting. The proclamation states, For 25 years, Information Builders has been a leader in the field of comprehensive information technology solutions."

According to Mr. Cohen, Its an honor to meet Mayor Giuliani and be recognized for our achievements, but its important to note that the city has been very supportive and innovative in encouraging the growth and success of high-tech companies such as ours. We look forward to our next 25 years in New York City."

In addition to his duties of running a large international software company, Mr. Cohen sits on the board of directors of the New York Software Industry Association, a trade organization of 200 + software and information technology companies in the New York City metropolitan area. He recently spoke at the inauguration of The CUNY Institute for Software Design and Development, which is dedicated to attracting, training and retaining the brightest development talent for New Yorks software companies. Mr. Cohen also sits on the advisory board of New York Citys Emerging Industries fund, a $25 million venture capital fund that will provide debt or equity financing for small high-tech and biotech companies based in New York City.
