Smart Kids, Safe Streets Airs on Global Television Network

Toronto, Ontario [May 16, 2000]-- Big Star Motion Pictures award winning special, SMART KIDS, SAFE STREETS, is scheduled to broadcast nationally on May 20, 2000. According to AC Nielsen, 500 000 plus viewers tuned into Global / Canwest for last years airing on National Missing Childrens week, which generated the highest ratings for a special of this nature on the Global network.

Produced by Richmond Hill based film production company, Big Star Motion Pictures Ltd., the special is a first for executive producers and company founders Frank A. Deluca and Giacomo Moncada.

Hosted by Globals own Beverly Thomson, the street proofing docudrama features re-enactments of everyday situations and interviews with law enforcement personnel, teenagers and children. The program was produced in partnership with the RCMP, Child Find and the Department of Justice. Big Star was presented with a special certificate saluting its commitment to creating safer communities in Canada from the Honourable Anne McLellan, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada. The special has also won multiple awards at International Film Festivals.

SMART KIDS, SAFE STREETS was written by Luciano Casimiri and directed by the award winning Director, Ann Kennard. It is scheduled to air on the Global Network on May 20, 2000 at 7pm EST and PST.
