MARRYING TECHNOLOGY TO BRICKS & MORTAR
The Right One® and Together® build a better introduction service by expanding tech capabilities
ISSUED May 19, 2000...To further strengthen its successful marriage of old-fashioned matchmaking and cutting-edge technology - a formula that has made Together® and The Right One® the largest and most successful personal introduction service in the world - the services have announced the hiring of Emmanuel Olaes as their new MIS Specialist and expanding the companies tech capabilities.
"Hiring a new MIS Specialist is a tangible demonstration of our commitment to do whatever we can to best serve the needs of our members," said Paul Falzone, CEO of Together® and The Right One®. "Expanding our technological capabilities does not mean that we are stepping away from the brick and mortar business world - a leap that too many companies in our field have unsuccessfully attempted. What we are doing is marrying the two to provide our infrastructure of approximately 100 offices throughout the nation with superior connectivity and the very latest technology for Internet capability and Intranet database solutions. These improvements will offer our franchise owners the tools they need to have even better success finding the perfect match for members through a combination of compatibility profiling and the intuitive matchmaking skills that can only come through face-to-face counseling."
By building a company-wide Intranet, Together® and The Right One® can pool information and provide for trend analysis and demographic studies that will allow the company to zero in on what today's singles are looking for in a relationship. For example, a national membership increase in a particular ethnic group will result in a targeted marketing campaign intended to build upon this segment of the population for the benefit of members looking to meet someone of similar background and culture.
By streamlining the flow of information between offices, the company's Intranet - expected to be fully operational this fall - will also allow for better member service operations.
Olaes will oversee an aggressive technology plan for the companies, which recently celebrated the first anniversary of their successful merger. Olaes -- a native of San Diego now based in Omaha, Nebraska - has an extensive background in high technology. A 26-year veteran of the United States Air Force and a retired major, he worked on Internet systems, in his words, "long before the Internet became either public or popular."
Among his notable achievements with the Air Force were: the procurement, installation and operation of the first USAF Strategic Air Command PC-based system for 36 military offices throughout the United States; leading a project that migrated 39 USAF mainframe systems to five regional systems; supervising the first Wide Area Network system for central control of mainframes in Korea, Japan, Guam and the Philippines from Hawaii.
Olaes' technology expertise has also been employed by Physicians Mutual of Omaha and Experian, the company formerly known as TRW Financial Services and the State of Nebraska, for which he designed a statewide e-mail system and an Intranet for the Department of Health and Human Services.
As a consultant, Olaes has had an extensive relationship with The Right One® for which he has programmed the company's Right Match® compatibility profiling system, administered the peer-to-peer network at its Omaha office and provided "help desk" assistance to both Together® and The Right One® on a variety of hardware, network, software and data processing problems.
Olaes educational background includes a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Puget Sound in Washington, a Master's Degree from the University of Oklahoma and a Certificate in Automated Data Processing from the Automation Institute of San Diego, CA.
"Our goal is to have this system up and running as quickly as possible and to make it as easy-to-use as possible so that there will be immediate benefits for members and franchise owners alike," Olaes said.
