USP Magazine Unleashed
Thinking to have successfully put the kybosh on the magazine Marketing News - mandarins at the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) may rightly be puzzled by the phoenix-like emergence of USPmagazine - which has gone live on-line at www.uspmagazine.com The print version due to launch within the month.
Marketing News was created by marketers for marketers as a free resource for all marketers regardless of any professional association membership, but incorporating events and news about CIM goings-on. Launched in March 1999 the bi-monthly glossy quickly outgrew its roots in the Royal Counties Branch of the CIM and expanded throughout the South East Region in October last year. The Millennium Fest issue incorporated London in its circulation. Readership became increasingly national and international following the launch of the web site www.marketingnews.co.uk Thereby attracting wrath from all sides within the CIM. Except the readers.
Marketing News was deemed a "threat to Branch publications" and by its existence to call into question the need for the funded CIM national magazine 'Marketing Business'. The grass-roots publication's proposition - self-liquidation and free information to the reader - was too successful for the readers to lose - with or without CIM blessing. The new magazine USP carries forward the initial vision - by marketers for marketers - FREE.
Marketing News had obligations to fly the flag for the Chartered Institute of Marketing, the new mag USP is unleashed. It owes no allegiance to anyone other than its readers. It is truly freethinking.
Big shots are just little shots who keep shooting.
