Dycem will improve your product yields and increase your profit
Henley Medical, package and sterilise medical products at their facility in Wiltshire England, their ethos is one of continuous improvement. Henleys GMP standard operating procedures called for the use of peel off mats, outside all entranceways to their class 100,000 critical environment, they suspected the peel off mats were not collecting and retaining as much contamination as they would have liked. Henley asked Dycem to review the situation with them. There were 3 key conclusions:
1. The area covered by the peel off mats was too small - this resulted in the peel off mats often being completely by passed by operatives.
2. The peel off mats were not peeled often enough. This resulted in contamination being tracked into the critical environment.
3. Wheeled traffic could not be used over the peel off mats - they 'rucked up' and stuck to the wheels.
This was clearly unsatisfactory. Henley Medical decided to trial Dycem Work-Zone, which has been designed by Dycem to collect and retain foot and wheel borne contamination in heavy trafficked clean areas.
Dycem installed Work-Zone and Henley Medical monitored the amount of both viable and non-viable particulates between 2 and 25 micron that were prevented from entering their critical environment. The results were staggering Henley noticed between 80 and 90% reduction in contamination entering their critical environment.
The main reason Henley Medical found Dycem Work-Zone so successful is: Work-Zone covers a much larger area than the peel off mat (10 m² compared to less than ½ m²). This allowed much more contact with operatives shoe soles and wheels and consequently far higher level of contamination removal and retention.
Henley Medical have added the cleaning of Work-Zone to their Standard Operating Procedures. They are delighted with the performance of Work-Zone in helping them improve product yields thus making more profit by stopping contamination in its tracks.
