ideadollar.com announces winners of Golden Lightbulb Awards

Comedy Gadget Filled Urinals is a Winner!

London -- 25th May 2000 - Ideadollar.com - an e-marketplace that merges the concepts of communities and e-commerce with a form of sponsorship, by buying and selling ideas -- today announces the winners of the first annual Golden Lightbulb Awards. The Golden Lightbulb competition was launched in conjunction with the site at the end of March. Entries for ideas on any topic or subject were judged on originality, presentation and completeness of idea.

Winners were selected in three categories: the best business idea, the best fun idea and the best idea for society. The most fun idea which is bound to appeal to men of all ages is an idea submitted by David Challis of Southampton. Challis' idea for comedy gadget filled urinals was an outright winner. Mark Turrell, founder of ideadollar.com believes the idea has great potential, to make people laugh and maybe even to make money. He says: "Some men's toilets already have target zones. Our idea is to replace these with plastic toys to give men something to aim for. The idea could be based on the old fairground test of strength machine. A direct hit could be signalled by a the recorded sound of a crowd cheering. The sponsorship potential to pub toilets is enormous."

The best idea for society is an idea submitted by Alice Kerly of Bristol. Kerly's idea is the creation of an Idea Development Fund for normal people looking for funding for ideas, but who don't want to approach a venture capitalist. The Idea Development Fund has been adopted by ideadollar.com itself. A fund of $100,000 has been made available by ideadollar.com for people who have a good idea and need a small amount of capital to invest to further the idea. For more details on the Idea Development Fund go to www.ideadollar.com

The award for best idea for business was won by Katheryn Howe of Monrovia, California. Her idea of a voice activated personal jukebox which connects to the internet is a compelling combination of technologies which has great commercial potential. Ideadollar.com is currently approaching manufacturers in the US and Europe to develop the idea further.

Ideadollar.com is planning further promotions working with leading consumer goods manufacturers in the US, UK and Europe.
