AMERICAN RENEGADE PLAYWRITING CONTEST 2000
North Hollywood CA, June 16, 2000-- The award winning American Renegade Theatre is proud to introduce their very first playwriting contest in the "new millennium". They are now excepting submissions.
Established in 1990, the American Renegade is a charitable & educational non-profit organization. As part of this commitment, it offers an extensive program of training and hands on experience in all aspects of theatre arts.
Under the Artistic Direction of David A. Cox, the American Renegade Theatre has won critical acclaim for its productions, including "critics choices" from the Los Angeles Times, as well as numerous Drama~Logue awards. In 1995, the American Renegade Theatre was awarded the prestigious California State Assembly "small business award of the year", and David A. Cox is considered to be one of the top acting coaches in the Los Angeles. Mr. Cox says that he looks forward to receiving play Wright material from all over the country as well as from overseas.

RULES OF THE CONTEST
1. Full length play
2. Winner will be selected by Nov. 2000 for full production at the American Renegade Theatre for 6 weekends in 2001.
3. There will also be a $500 cash prize.
4. Winner will be announced Nov. 15/2000
5. 2nd and 3rd place will be considered for future productions.
6. Royalties of the play while at the American Renegade Theatre must be waived.
However, if extended after 6 weeks, 5% of Box office gross will be paid to
Author.
7. A standard Writer's Guild contract will be signed with winner-with all rights
except Royalties for the first 6 weeks.
8. Advertising of winning play shall be at discretion of Producer of ARTC
9. ARTC reserves the right to photograph & announce name of play and winner
in all news media forms.
| | - Check shall go to winner in amount of $500. It will be awarded upon signing
of Writer's Guild Standard play production contract.
11. All plays submitted will be kept in library of ARTC.
12. Plays must be designated CONTEST and include a check for $20 with contest
written on the front of the check.
13. Contest winners will be determined by an impartial group of readers designated
- the Artistic Director, David A. Cox and the Associate Artistic Director, JP
| Luckenbach.
14. This contest is open to all playwrights throughout the world.
15. All manuscripts must be original plays, unpublished & previously unproduced
as a presentation to the paying public. However, they can be workshopped.
16. Play must be submitted by October 1, 2000.
**Include a check for $20 as a handling & reading fee. Make checks payable to
Bodytherm Artist Group Management. This fee is non-refundable and does not guarantee that the play submitted will be produced by ARTC.
