Kane & Abel Ink Multi-Million Dollar Distribution Deal with DNA
Underground rap superstars Kane & Abel signed a multi-million dollar distribution deal with DNA (Distribution North America) for the duo's Most Wanted Records label. The Woodland, CA-based DNA is owned by billion-dollar entertainment software conglomerate Valley Media.
Under this new arrangement, Kane & Abel will release their forth album, Most Wanted, on September 12, 2000. The deal with with DNA places Most Wanted Records among the ranks of explosive southern rap labels such as Cash Money, No Limit and Rap-A-Lot Records.
"We're very excited to be 100% independent with the strength and support of a billion-dollar company and we plan to lock down the rap game," says kane. "We're looking forward to expanding Most Wanted Records into an independent music empire," adds Abel.
Jim Colson, Vice President of Distribution for Valley Media and General Manager of DNA says, "Kane and Abel are an innovative rap duo, and we applaud this new partnership. Their new title, Most Wanted, which will be released through DNA later in the year, along with a number of artist signings being pursued, should put Most Wanted on the map as a label to watch. We are looking forward to doing our part to make this a very successful effort."
Most Wanted Records is a leading New Orleans-based independent rap music label. Kane & Abel has sold over 1 million copies of their own albums: The 7 Sins [No Limit, 1996], Am I My Brothers Keeper [No Limit, 1998], and Rise to Power [Most Wanted/Electra. 1999]. They were featured on a number of No Limit Records releases that collectively sold over 30 million copies worldwide
