Antenna Control System will meet the demanding communications                                             needs of GCS's Shipboard Transportable SATCOM System.

MERRIMACK, New Hampshire, USA- Codem Systems, Inc., a leader in antenna control systems, gimbals, network access equipment and spectrum management systems, has been awarded a $250k contract by Global Communications Solutions (GCS) of Rochester, NY, to deliver an antenna control unit for GCS's shipboard transportable SATCOM system.

The contract involves modifying and integrating Codem's model FAC-500 Antenna Control Unit (ACU) to meet the demanding needs of GCS's high reliability, transportable shipboard X-band SATCOM system. The FAC-500 will actively compensate for ship's motion using gyroscope, GPS and compass inputs, and will continually maintain satellite communication utilizing Codem's sophisticated tracking and scanning algorithms. GCS will remotely control the FAC-500 over an Ethernet link.

The FAC-500 is part of Codem's new line of Flexible Antenna Controllers (FACs). Codem's Internet-ready, software-based FAC controllers enable remote LAN/Internet control of any pedestal, regardless of the manufacturer. The FAC product line is an entirely configurable, intelligent controller resulting in shorter integration time and lower O&M costs. Codem provides control solutions for earth stations, transportable systems, stabilized platforms, (which include shipboard, vehicle and aircraft), and small aperture end user terminals.

GCS provides turnkey multimedia communications solutions for military, government and commercial customers. The shipboard transportable SATCOM system will address the growing need for on-demand satellite communications from mobile platforms.

"We are pleased to have Codem as an integral part of our team to develop new high performance satellite products and systems at GCS. Their Antenna Control technology is the finest in the market", said Frank York, president of Global Communications Solutions, Inc.
