World of Concrete 2001 Expands to a Trio of Events

Addison, IL - July 24, 2000 -- World of Concrete, the industry's largest annual commercial construction show, has grown to a trio of events that now includes World of Masonry and The Producer Center.

World of Concrete 2001, takes place at the Las Vegas Convention Center Tuesday through Friday, February 27 to March 2, 2001. Seminars begin February 26; exhibits open February 27. The Producer Center is a new event-within-an-event that offers exhibits, demonstrations and seminars designed specifically for producers of ready-mix, block and precast concrete. It combines World of Concrete's successful Precast and Ready-Mix Pavilion concept with hands-on demonstrations and educational sessions targeted to the needs of concrete producers.

World of Masonry is a totally new event to be held in a separate exhibit hall adjacent to World of Concrete at the Las Vegas Convention Center. It encompasses 40,000 net square feet of product exhibits, a comprehensive seminar series and live-action demonstrations focused on the needs of masonry professionals. Products featured at World of Masonry include mast-climbing work platforms, scaffolding, mortar mixers, rough-terrain forklifts, masonry cutting tools, flashing and weep accessories, ties and anchors, mortar ingredients, grout pumps and more.

With more than six months remaining before the 2001 events in Las Vegas, exhibit sales for all three events are surpassing expectations. More than 1,200 companies have signed on for exhibit space. Of these, 948 companies have committed to World of Concrete, 186 to The Producer Center and 77 to World of Masonry.

World of Concrete's reputation for quality draws decision-making attendees each year to learn about the latest new products and technology. This reputation for drawing a high-quality buying audience keeps exhibiting companies returning each year and consistently attracts new companies, says show management.

"Quality has always been important to this show. From the exhibitors we line up to the decision-makers we target to attend, we have always focused our efforts on creating a match that meets the needs of both audiences. The new products, the trends and techniques offered in the Mega Demos and the superior educational program are further examples of our ongoing commitment to providing high quality experiences for the concrete construction professionals we serve," said Beth Gassen, Show Director for Hanley- Wood Exhibitions.

The previous show, World of Concrete 2000 was the largest the event has been since it began in 1975. The record 650,000 net square feet of exhibits with 1,460 exhibiting companies topped all previous records for size and number of exhibiting companies.

The 2001 trio of events in Las Vegas is positioned to surpass that record.
"The expanded opportunities fostered by three events in one are sure to draw new audiences. And, Las Vegas is always a great place for World of Concrete. It draws contractors and developers from all over the country and is particularly attractive to international audiences," added Gassen.

World of Concrete is the industry's largest annual international show on commercial construction. It encompasses indoor and outdoor product exhibits from more than 1,400 leading companies, a 90-session educational program and two days of live-action Mega Demos that demonstrate the latest field techniques. Four specialty pavilions within World of Concrete feature products for Information Technology, Materials Handling, Concrete Repair and Paving.

More than 60,000 construction professionals from around the world participate in World of Concrete, including contractors, developers, architects, engineers, distributors, ready-mixed concrete producers, precast/prestressed concrete producers, specifiers and government officials. The show is cosponsored by 19 leading industry associations, many of whom hold their annual, board or committee meetings during the show. World of Concrete also has several supporting organizations which promote the show to their membership.
