NTT UNIT LAUNCHES BOOKMARKSPLUS WEB SERVICE
NTT NaviSpace Corporation Launches Wireless and Web Bookmark
Service Powered By BookmarksPlus
TOKYO, Japan/MENLO PARK, Calif. - August 2, 2000 -- BookmarksPlus
announced the launch of a wireless and web bookmark service by NTT
NaviSpace Corporation (http://myb.nttnavi.co.jp/). Web bookmark
software supporting the NTT NaviSpace service is being licensed
from BookmarksPlus.
In addition to the announcement of the launch, the launch also
features two firsts; the first-time users have the ability to access
web bookmarks from both their PC and i-mode, the Internet-phone
service introduced by NTT DoCoMo, Japan's biggest mobile telephone
company, and the first-time anyone has seen the BookmarksPlus
"exchange" feature which enables users to exchange links to
interesting web sites without emailing them over the Internet,
but rather through the BookmarksPlus network from a PC or
with i-mode. With the exchange feature users can share individual
links or folders containing links with as many people as they want.
"More than 10,000 users signing up in the first two days is an
indication of the popularity of the new service! It is with great
pleasure that NTT NaviSpace provides its valued "MY DIRECTORY" users
with an additional useful service." said Kiyohiko Ono, President and
CEO of NTT NaviSpace Corporation. "We are extremely happy and fortunate
to provide the software that serves the i-mode and Web bookmarks for
NTT NaviSpace customers. We know that with the high visibility of
NTT NaviSpace--millions of Japanese users will be able to benefit
from the power and usefulness that wireless and web bookmarks provide"
said Curtis Chin, President and CEO of BookmarksPlus.
NTT NaviSpace customers can now enjoy "anywhere access" to easily
save and retrieve links to their favorite Web sites. NTT Navi
BookmarksPlus (http://myb.nttnavi.co.jp/) enables users to have all
their bookmarks in one place, accessible from any i-mode phone or
computer with Internet access and a browser. Password protected
accounts ensure privacy, while enabling the exchange of bookmarks
with others.
The software licensing agreement was arranged by Japanese business
agents, J-Launch. "I knew when I first saw BookmarksPlus that we
would find them a great opportunity in Japan," said President of
J-Launch, Takaaki Onishi. "To succeed in the Internet in Japan--
NTT was the obvious choice for BookmarksPlus."
