Chase Selects LexiQuest for Natural Language Information Retrieval on ChaseWeb

Chase is the first major U.S. financial institution to choose LexiGuide

New York - Tuesday, August 1, 2000 - The Chase Manhattan Bank, lead subsidiary of The Chase Manhattan Corporation (NYSE: CMB), has chosen LexiQuest, Inc. to provide a first-of-its-kind, user-friendly, natural language interface to benefit the 70,000 employee users of ChaseWeb. Employees in 47 different business units of Chase use ChaseWeb, the financial institutions worldwide Intranet.

Chases agreement with LexiQuest is part of a major effort to make ChaseWeb a more usable, accessible and friendly environment for all employees. The innovative interface -- LexiGuide -- will give every ChaseWeb user the power to conduct efficient, skillful research, more readily than ever before. Chase, which will implement LexiGuide in August 2000, is the first major financial institution in the United States to embrace this advanced technology.

This technology will help Chases employees be more productive as they can search for information and get the most relevant results," said Marisa Paladino, Chases Intranet Technology Manager.

Initial tests on ChaseWeb have demonstrated that LexiGuide more than doubles the accuracy of document retrieval and information sharing when compared against traditional search methods. LexiGuides fully automated computational linguistic technology allows users to ask questions in their own words, without the traditional limitations of only using key words.

Using LexiGuide, ChaseWeb provides the precise information employees are seeking while filtering out noise, distractions, and most important, irrelevant documents.
