Quatech, Inc. Positioned for Growth
Akron, OH, August 11--Quatech Inc., a leading manufacturer of communication, data acquisition, and control products for PC-based systems, announced today that the company has been purchased by a group of Akron based investors. The newly energized company is now well positioned to increase market-share for its current product lines, and to devote significant resources to new product development.Founded in 1983 by former University of Akron Engineering Professors, Quatech has grown into a major supplier of computer peripherals with a distribution network spanning the United States, Canada, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia. The new investors bring not only an infusion of capital, but also an experienced management team poised to help Quatech better expand its product lines and serve its customers in the rapidly changing technology market.Steve Runkel, a 17 year veteran of
the technology industry, takes over as Quatech's new President and CEO. Most recently of Oracle, Corp, Steve brings to Quatech a wealth of experience in developing and delivering technology solutions. He will spearhead the effort to expand its business into new areas such as wireless communication and wireless data acquisition systems. Used in conjunction with Quatech data acquisition boards, the SignalPro Series provides board-level signal conditioning for a wide variety of sensors and signals.
