Real Lives on the Internet - OpenDiary.com Hosts 120,000 Online Diaries

SOMERVILLE, NJ -- TV shows like Survivor" and Big Brother" have shown that people are fascinated with reality-based programming, following the real-life experiences of regular people. Thousands of personal webcam sites have also sprung up, bringing the real-life experience to the Internet. But theres a problem with TV and webcams -- they only show the viewer what people are doing, not what they are thinking and feeling.

For a truly deep look into the lives of real people, theres nothing like reading their diary. A diary provides a record of a persons thoughts and feelings, joys and sorrows - recorded over days and months and years.

Diary keepers have found a new way to express themselves, by bringing their journals to the Internet. As a result, the online diary has become something more -- no longer the little book locked in a dresser drawer, an online diary offers the author a place to share his or her most private thoughts and feelings with the world.

Over the past year, more than 120,000 people have started online diaries at The Open Diary (www.opendiary.com). Diarists writing at The Open Diary come from all ages and places. Open Diary authors are teens and seniors, baby boomers and Gen Xers, and every age in between. Thousands of diary entries are posted every day, from sixty-three countries around the world, and from all fifty U.S. states.

The entire spectrum of human emotion can be found in the personal stories on Opendiary.com. Love, loss, success, failure, hope and triumph are all there -- as experienced by real people, in the real world.
