City of North Lauderdale PD and City Hall employs biometrics to modernize access control

FingerSec Biometric Security helps the City of North Lauderdale to enhance its access control system

MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA-August 10, 2000
FingerSec Biometric Security, Corp. a leading provider of biometric identification systems announced its newest access control installation at the City of North Lauderdale Police Department and City Hall. The system is based on the Veriprint 2100 fingerprint recognition unit, manufactured by Biometric Identification, of Sherman Oaks, CA. The unit utilizes fingerprint recognition to verify the identity of more than 300 employees at the PD and City Hall.
"Our V2100 access control unit eliminates the need for keys and cards, and accurately identifies the authorized users of the system," says Fabian Andrades, VP and founder of FingerSec. If the fingerprint of the person requesting access doesnt match with the one stored in the system, it will not grant access to the premises; it will also indicate the event in the system log. "

  • knew for some time that biometric access control was out there, but considered it too expensive," says Patrick Ellis, Director of IT at North Lauderdale City Hall. "After taking a closer look at the Veriprint 2100 access control system, we decided that it was the solution that we were looking for " The project began with only two units, one at the city hall rear entrance and one at the PD back door. After the successful installation and testing period of these two units, four more were added at different entry points in the building.
The Veriprint 2100 is the most advanced fingerprint identification and verification device available today.
