Cedar Systems "Nutshell Pro" Thin-Clients Chosen by the Navy's Aegis Training and Readiness Center in Dahlgren, Virginia for It's Price and Security Features.

SEATTLE, WA- Aug, 15, 2000- Cedar Systems, a Thin-Client Computing company, located in Seattle, WA has been selected to provide Nutshell Pro thin-client terminals to the Aegis Training and Readiness Center (ATRC) in Dahlgren, VA. The ATRC, a branch of the Navy, is implementing Nutshell Pro, Widows-based terminals, to increase the control of the network infrastructure while maintaining protection of ATRC's servers. Additionally, the ATRC required a solution that would help lower the center's total cost of ownership (TCO).

With software from Microsoft the ATRC securely transmits encrypted information to the Nutshell Pro terminals without the fear of a breach in security. "They [NutShell Pro] do not have a disc drive or a hard drive to save information on making them more secure then a PC." says Dave Malley of ATRC. Cedar Systems believes that Nutshell Pros are ideal for Government applications and "sees NutShell terminals being used in a wide variety of situations where security is a necessity" said Walden Reed Vice President of Marketing.

Security is one of the many benefits of the Nutshell Pro, another benefit that came into play for the ATRC was the lowering of their TCO. "When customers invest in the NutShells they are confident they are receiving a product that will perform well into the future. We support ATRC's belief in our technology by providing a ten-year warranty. Put the warranty together with the Nutshell Pro's capability of being remotely upgraded, makes the Nutshell Pro the preferred choice for many Government agencies." said Walden Reed.

The "NutShell Pro" is the Thin-Client terminal, which truly addresses business' needs to reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO). Its hardware was specially designed to maintain long-life and reliability. By using the highest quality hardware, the NutShell Pro ensures minimal maintenance for your information system administrator. With the NutShell Pro's simple-to-use GUI and configuration software, time spent setting up the terminal is reduced to minutes. Remote manageability is another feature designed to reduce your TCO. Using TCOSoft's full suite of remote management software, administrators will save valuable labor and time remotely updating the terminals' operating system and dictating what servers the terminals should establish connections with. Additional features to the NutShell Pro include, password protection, dial-up networking, Windows 2000 RDP and ICA support, sound, and a PCI/ISA slot.
