Yasmin Namini, vice president of circulation marketing at The New York Times, will become senior vice president of consumer marketing at the New England Newspaper Group and senior vice president of circulation at the Globe. She will be responsible for all circulation sales and services.
We are proud that the Globe is the dominant mass medium in New England and we intend to keep it that way," said Richard H. Gilman, who serves both as publisher of the Globe and as president of the New England Newspaper Group. At the same time, the trend in media today is to serve the specific needs and interests of readers and advertisers. We believe there are multiple opportunities of this kind to be filled in eastern Massachusetts. The Globe provides a strong foundation and network of services, but it is just a starting point.
Given the magnitude and the potential, it is important that we fill these posts with individuals of the highest caliber,"Gilman said. I am extremely pleased that Ms. Patrone and Ms. Namini have agreed to take on these assignments."
Patrone and Namini will report to Gilman in their roles at the New England Newspaper Group and to William Huff, president of the Globe, in their roles at the Globe. They will also work closely with Bruce S. Bennett, publisher of the Worcester Telegram & Gazette.
Patrone joined the Globe in 1976 and has served in a number of sales promotion and marketing functions, including Vice President of Marketing, Director of Development and Planning, and Public Affairs Manager. She is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College.
Namini comes to the Globe from The New York Times, where she was Vice President of Circulation Marketing. She joined the Times in 1984 and has served in every area of the circulation department, including operations, single-copy sales, consumer marketing, home delivery, sales development and planning. From 1986-1989, she managed the Times home-delivery office in Boston. She has a bachelors degree in psychology from the University of Maryland and a masters degree in applied statistics from Villanova University.
