TRION Leads Legal Industry With Advanced Web-based Products And Services
Web-based document repositories and Application Service Providers [ASPs] have become the hot trend in the document management industry, allowing firms and corporations of all sizes to take advantage of leading edge technology without significant capitol expenditures or overburdening technology departments with support or upgrade issues. By engineering solutions that advance trends instead of following them, TRION Technologies has become the premier provider of repository and ASP services to the legal and commercial industries.
Products & Services
TRION has been providing document management solutions since 1992, featuring products such as Judicata advanced litigation management software and the DCS Document Capture System. In fact, TRION helped pioneer the online repository trend with the January 1999 release of Judicata On Demand, the thin-client version of Judicata that allowed clients to store their document collection online at a TRION facility with secured search/retrieval access through the Internet.
In January 2000 TRION premiered a second-generation Internet repository and litigation management service, Judicata.com. This web browser-based service combined the power of Judicata with the flexibility and accessibility of the Internet to create a secure, feature-rich portal that includes fuzzy logic" search/retrieval, collaboration tools, calendaring, production tools, transcript management, a repository with unlimited scalability and native support for electronic documents and mail. Judicata.com expands the ability for secure retrieval and review of documents from anyplace in the world (with Internet access) and provides a complete litigation management system that provides a distinct strategic advantage over the opposition.
Judicata V3.1 will be premiered at the LegalTech trade show in September 2000 with a variety of new features, including dual user interfaces, full transcript support, and an intuitive screen layout. Judicata V3.1 will also offer two unique options to legal teams. First, clients may choose TRION to host documents and software on dedicated secure servers OR install Judicata V3 Server on an internal network to create a self-hosted litigation intranet/extranet. Secondly, the Lease For Purchase option can also be exercised. This option allows up to 50% of certain repository payments, dependent on volume, to be applied to the purchase cost of the Judicata software licenses or other related services. This program provides clients low cost of entry option to explore the value of utilizing the Judicata V3.1 ASP and repository service with the ability, at a later date, to move their projects onto their own internal computing resources if they so desire.
Judicata seamlessly integrates with the DCSä Document Capture System, a third-generation suite of conversion products and services that feature automated workflow, code from image and our advanced SmartOCR. These features allow for improved efficiency in scanning and coding operations while providing a state of the art optical character recognition capability. In addition, DCS supports E-Capture - a set of electronic discovery tools that provide an automated document sweep tool as well as automated processing of electronic documents and e-mails directly from their native format. Beyond supporting the TRION family of document management products and services, DCS can integrate with and produce output formats for most popular litigation management products.
The powerful features and strong architecture of Judicata and DCS have application well beyond the legal industry, spawning re-branding opportunities for other organizations as well as sister products such as PowerMineä for knowledge management and PowerMine RM, a Department of Defense certified records management application.
Differentiators
As a company, TRION Technologies is an industry leader for a multitude of reasons, but the primary differentiator lies within its history. TRION began in 1992 as an engineering company that provided imaging services, software and hardware solutions. This created a very unique environment that allowed the development of products and services to intertwine and coexist. Combining this environment with the knowledge of seasoned document management specialists, TRION has been able to provide complete software, hardware and service solutions that remain unparalleled in their understanding of the true business process and functionality needs of the industry.
Based in Cleveland, Ohio with regional offices in the New York and Washington, D.C. metropolitan areas, TRION Technologies is a portfolio company of Orion Partners, LP -- a private equity fund based in Boston, Massachusetts.
