FTPA Releases Precise Study of Hours Worked by Teachers

FTPA, the Fair Teacher Pay Association, has released its research study detailing the number of hours and minutes per year worked by public and private school teachers.   The study is designed to provide a benchmark for parents, teachers, and government when considering issues regarding length of school year and teacher compensation.
Key Findings Are:

1)  Public and private school teachers must work a minimum of 1869 hours per year to perform their minimum required duties.  According to the U.S.  Bureau of Labor Statistics, this is 277.4 more hours (17.4% more hours) than the average American worker.

2)  Many teachers, particularly those in the first few years of their career, work as many as 2,550 hours per year.  According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statisics, this is 958.4 more hours (60.2% more hours) than the average American worker.
