Cincinnati, Ohio - StudentSuccess, Inc., a training and advisory group that helps guide students to success in college and beyond, announced today that it will kick off its Making College Count In-School Presentation Program in January 2000. Making College Count's unique success message will be delivered to a record number of more than 400,000 students nationwide this year, surpassing last year's total of more than 225,000.
The FREE, dynamic, student-interactive presentation is designed to complement the college preparatory efforts of guidance departments, teachers, and administrators. The program provides students with critical information on how to maximize their opportunities upon graduation and also addresses transitional issues such as time management, study skills, and goal-setting. "Only about 73% of freshmen make it to sophomore year," says Making College Count founder Patrick S. O'Brien. "Couple that with the fact that only about 53% of
studentsentering college today will graduate within five years, and you can see thereis a serious problem."
The Making College Count In-School Presentation Program, provided at no cost to high schools, is made possible through corporate partnerships with some of the nation's premier companies including Procter & Gamble, PricewaterhouseCoopers, PNC Bank, and CollegeLink.com. "These partners have made it possible for us to bring the Making College Count message to high school seniors for free," says O'Brien. "In expanding the program in 2000, more high school seniors will have the opportunity to hear this valuable message."
Students and high school counselors raved about last year's program. Ninety-nine percent of students receiving the program suggested that others would benefit from it and counselors hosting the presentation have rated it an impressive 9.2 on a 10-point scale.
The Making College Count In-School Presentation is based on the company's highly acclaimed college guidance book, Making College Count: A Real World Look At How To Succeed In and After College. The book is endorsed bythe nation's premier counseling organization, the National Association For College Admission Counseling (NACAC).
Key content from the presentation can be found on the Internet at www.makingcollegecount.com. The comprehensive, student-friendly Web site offers a wide variety of tools and resources for current or prospective college students, as well as the opportunity to purchase the book online.
