XTension Speeds Update of Quark Style Sheets

WALTHAM, MASSACHUSETTS: Jan 12, 2000 - Xpedient Corporation today released "Redefine Style Sheet", a new XTension for users of the page layout software QuarkXPress 3.32r5 and 4.x. "Redefine Style Sheet" lets users instantly update Style Sheets to match local formatting. Experts, beginners and their employers will appreciate the software for its simplicity and for the time it saves.

Xpedient makes it simple and painless to modify Quark's Style Sheets. Users who have avoided Style Sheets will enjoy a significant increase in productivity. "Redefine Style Sheet" was created for graphic designers, typesetters, page production artists and prepress technicians, but it will open the Style Sheets option to less experienced nonprofessionals as well.

Until now, updating existing Style Sheets to match local formats was very cumbersome, and surprisingly much more time-consuming than making new ones. Many experienced QuarkXPress users invented a 14-step procedure that involves making a new Style Sheet to replace the old one.

Amy Rothstein, president of Xpedient, said, "Our fastest testers performed the replacement procedure in 24 seconds." Daniel Melnechuk, co-founder, adds, "I invite you to download the demo of Redefine Style Sheet that gives you 25 free uses. After you have tried the demo, you will have saved at least ten minutes of your time. Who can't use 10 free minutes?" A fully functional demonstration of Xpedient's software can be found on the web at http://www.xpedient.com.

Redefine Style Sheet was created to speed Ms. Rothstein through her freelance page layout work. She and Daniel Melnechuk formed Xpedient Corporation to provide this kind of automation for other Quark users. "I can't work without Redefine Style Sheet in my XTension folder. Once you've used it, you can't go back." said one of their beta testers.

Redefine Style Sheet is Xpedient's first product release in a series of simple and powerful software tools. The software was designed by Amy Rothstein, who has over ten years of typesetting and page production experience using Quark. Daniel Melnechuk, who has over twenty years of experience in both software and hardware engineering, wrote the software. Rothstein is known to Quark users for tending the XPresso Bar, an independent guide to QuarkXPress on the net (http://www.xpressobar.com).

Background information: Style Sheets control typographic details. They establish consistency because you can quickly apply identical settings repeatedly. You also get retroactive control -- you can change your mind--as you redefine your Style Sheets, the whole document conforms to your new formats. Style Sheets are present in most word processors as well as all the typesetting programs.
